About Me

Welcome to Miss Rejo’s Corner! My name is Rejoice Maphosa and I am 18 years old. I started my blog when I was 15. I am a self-taught culinary fanatic (so no i did not do Food and Nutrition at school). I believe in culinary discovery and that is why I became a recipe developer as it presented the challenge of being able to write my own recipes. At first, I was rather reluctant to start a blog because I did not know what to anticipate, but as soon as i wrote my very first article , i immediately knew that I wanted to carry on.

My style of cooking is modern. I am enraptured by colourful food especially the art of using various colours to delineate certain effects or bring about a particular feel to a meal (i.e colours like green, yellow, red and orange emanate a bright; vivid look and feel, whereas colours like- purple, brown and maroon evince a more elegant feel especially with desserts). Paying attention to detail is also something i like to accentuate whenever i cook, as they are always the minor details that give a dish its unique flare.

My culinary journey started when i was around 7 years old and it wasn’t that great at first (as expected), but after years of perfecting the skill it has evolved into what it is today. What I love about being self-taught in the kitchen is the process of being able to envisage what you want  to make first and then coming up with your own method of executing whatever is in your mind according to the way your brain perceives it.

One of the main reasons why i started the blog is that I am entirely for the idea of eradicating humdrum cooking and replacing it with dynamited and invigorated cooking, because our food has the power to move us and to change the way we get on with our lives so if it can stimulate and rejuvenate us even on the dullest day then why not!

I believe in letting the food speak and render joy.  I am always intrigued by the exhilarated looks on my family’s faces whenever they set their eyes on whatever i’d have made and it is always the pride of any chef to know that they have done the thing! I have been blessed with an amazing family who have been spectacular supporters.  A special shout-out to my brother, Washington, who has undoubtedly been my greatest cooking fan, who would always exaggerate how insanely good my cooking was even before I believed it. Another massive shout-out to my sister, Epifania, who gave me the idea of starting a blog and has been a phenomenal and extremely supportive blog mentor who has made me love blogging. Another tremendous shout-out to my parents who again are my huge supporters and who generously sponsor their daughter’s elaborate cooking. Finally, the biggest thank you is to God for blessing me with this incredible gift that i get to share with the world and the ability to nurture it by believing that nothing is impossible to those who believe!
